Wool Socks Declassified
2/16/2008
If you're like me, you hear people all the time say they only wear wool socks.  And why?  They're thick and itchy.  What good could possibly come from that?

Many of the employees at Fred Toenges wear Smartwool socks.  Many of them have been here for years.  What do they know that I don't?  I kept saying they'd make my feet hot.  They'll make me itch.  The typical stigma that comes with a wool sock.  But what the heck?  I gave them a try.  They were a bit more expensive then the socks I was used to buying.  I don't like socks that come up to my calf.  Luckily they have one for me.

Ok.  They keep my feet warm.  Not hot, just warm.  What?  No itch!  This can't be a wool sock.  And they fit.  With a smaller foot I often have trouble finding a sock that fits.  These do.  What about sweaty feet?  Everybody has sweaty feet.  Most people sweat about 1/2 cup each day from their feet alone.  Kinda gross.  These socks actually kept my feet dry.  How could it be?  They had great cushioning too.  Impossible!

I only have one pair.  And when I get to them in my sock drawer I enjoy them.  Have you ever put on your socks and went, "Whew, that feels good."  I have.  They're also a renewable resource.  Yes the sheep hair grows back.  Which makes Brian very happy.

I'd challenge you to pick up a pair.  My guess is you'll have a very similar experience.
