Marathon Results
11/6/2007
Nearly three weeks ago Peter, our resident runner, pushed himself to run in the Detroit Marathon.  Granted Peter only ran the half marathon, that is still just over thirteen miles.  Over the past several months Peter has run under the Fred Toenges Shoes name.  We've supplied him with clothing and paid for registration.  As he is one of our own, we are proud and happy to do so.

However, Peter had been running mostly 5k and 10k races.  Not thirteen miles.  So here is the story behind the blog.

I sat home that Sunday.  I had gone to church with my family.  We had eaten a nice lunch and I was just sitting down for three hours of football.  It was my average Sunday.  Shortly before halftime, the game being a blowout not much fun to watch, I thought of Peter.  Being from Michigan, I figured I knew right where to look for the results of the race.  I jumped online.  Found the results.  Hit page down several times.  Where was Peter?  There were thousands that had entered and run.  But I had it by age group.  I hit refresh.  Surely there had to have been an error.  The page loaded.  There was and error.  Mine.  I hadn't put much faith in Peter.  He finished second in his age group, sixth overall.  Wow.

I grabbed my cell phone and called to congratulate him.  He didn't know how he'd finished.  I was the first to tell him.  Funny how things work out sometimes.

After hanging up I was able to reflect on the whole thing.  Peter has, in the past few months taught me a few things about faith.  This just being one of them.

We are very proud to help Peter.  Thanks.

On another race.  Brian, one of our buyers, ran in the Columbus Marathon the same day.  He was able to achieve our goal we set for him.  Well done.  Had he worn the 3.5” competition shorts, he'd have cut some time off his overall.

Great job!
