Back to School
8/27/2007
Back to school is in full swing. This year has been quite a challenge as classes started earlier than they have in years past. Trying to coordinate shoe buying and arrival six months before hand can be, and was, very tricky. Our buyers, Mike and Brian, have done a knock out job this year. They have taken the input from our customers, our employees, and more importantly the kids of our employees to put together the best line-up of kids shoes that we have carried in some time.
The past few years have witnessed pink being the girls color of choice. Not this year. We have watched blues and greens take charge. Pink still holds it's own, but other pastels have really come on strong.
The addition of Keen and Ecco Kids has really helped, too. The Keen features it's trademark toe cap and fits medium to wide feet very nice. The addition of a decent arch support makes them great for kids that tend to over pronate.
Ecco kids has given us a trendier, European style that many people really like. The athletic shoes offer the support of laces and the convenience of a quick close elastic. Having young children myself, I can empathize with the ease of getting the shoes on and off quickly.
In all, back to school has been a blast. It's very rewarding to see the smiles on the faces of the kids. Going back to school, often isn't about being excited to learn. It's about getting new shoes.
We'd like to pass a special thanks to the area Middle and High School Cheerleaders and Cross Country teams that have joined forces with Fred Toenges. We appreciate the confidence you have shown in our abilities. Together, we believe, we can help you dominate.
